Cookie Policy

Last updated: 12 May 2026

This page lists the cookies and similar browser storage that MedQBank uses. The short version is: there is one functional cookie that remembers your sidebar state, the authentication cookies your browser stores so you stay signed in, and nothing else. MedQBank does not run advertising trackers and does not sell or share cookie data.

1. Cookies set by MedQBank itself

  • sidebar_state. A first-party functional cookie that remembers whether the sidebar is expanded or collapsed. Stores a single value (“expanded” or “collapsed”). Not used for tracking. Setting:SameSite=Lax, scoped to the MedQBank domain.

2. Authentication cookies

When you sign in, Supabase (the authentication provider MedQBank uses) sets cookies that carry a short-lived session token and a refresh token. These cookies are required for signed-in pages to work — without them, you would have to sign in again on every page load. They are scoped to the MedQBank domain and marked HttpOnly and Secure.

3. Analytics

MedQBank uses Vercel Analytics, which is cookie-free by design. It records anonymised page views and rough geographic regions without setting cookies and without tracking individual users across sites. If you have turned off analytics in Settings, the analytics script is not loaded at all.

4. Other browser storage

The MedQBank web app stores some preferences locally on your device using localStorage — for example, your theme choice (light, dark, OLED) so the right colours apply before the page paints. localStorage is not a cookie and is not sent to any server.

5. How to control cookies

You can clear MedQBank's cookies and local storage at any time from your browser's site settings. Clearing the sidebar_state cookie only resets the sidebar to its default. Clearing the authentication cookies signs you out — you can sign back in normally afterwards.

6. Changes to this Policy

If MedQBank starts using new cookies or trackers, this page will be updated and material changes will be flagged via the in-product Terms gate the next time you sign in.

7. Contact

Questions about cookies or browser storage can go to 25047004@student.uwa.edu.au. For the full picture of what data MedQBank stores, see the Privacy Policy.
